Theme: Me, myself and I – the journey of finding self-identity

The collage provides three different angles for a portrait. There is a side portrait when facing left, self-portrait when staring thoughtfully into the distance, and many different faces all represent a version of “self.” The design means to provide readers an open interpretation of Yanxin, that “you only see what you want to see” as it is the way to perceive another human being. The collage aims to answer the questions: who am I? What defines me? What’s my characteristics? What do I believe in? What am I heading to? By mixing pop culture elements such as TV series and fashion, Asian identity elements (ex. monolids), historical elements such as female warriors, cultural origins such as Ancient Chinese cultural traits and slogans (ex. “I am what I make up”), Yanxin is able to put together these components to convey her vision of an avant-garde and storytelling autobiography.
